I used this raw canvas as a backdrop for cards I was creating and really liked the spray-painted stenciled images that came out of it.

Layered this background with posters I ripped from the billboards and glued the different shapes with the attempt to create an image that looked like logs burning or fire.

Then the butterfly appeared to me. I used glue and tape to outline the shape, which I then painted with acrlylic paint.

The butterfly emerged out of the fire, a symbol to me of rebirth and what’s next for me here.
